Team Altair Passes Halfway Mark on Reaching 2015 Fundraising Goal

Altair’s Multiple Sclerosis teams are having a great summer supporting local fundraising events! Altair has been an avid fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society for almost 20 years. Over 30 Altairians have signed up and participated in MS golf, bike, and walk events this summer.

On August 1st, nine Altairians accepted a challenge to get dirty for the MS Muckfest held at Willow Metropark in Boston, MI! Over 2,000 participants from the age of 12 enjoyed obstacles for every ability. The Altair MuckFest Team consisted of Christine Barrett, Barrett Cromwell, Brian Emmer, Christopher Jones, Jacob Lett, Meghan Rundell, Scott Rundell, Kelly Slavik, and Chad Zamler. This incredible team braved the hour-long course filled with mud pits, giant swinging balls, rope climbing, zip lining, army crawling, jumping, and mud fights. A couple of first-timers said they would definitely do it again! Congratulations and many thanks go to this awesome team for completing the MS MuckFest Challenge.

Earlier this summer, Altair Bike MS Team rode a two-day Bike MS event from Milford to East Lansing and back in mid-July called the Great Lakes Mid-Michigan 2015. This dedicated bike team included Lakshmi Janardhan, Amith Thirunarayan, Sandeep Patil, Bassayya Kalal, Mario Scalzo, Chandramouli Sharma, Dragi Gasevski, Shuguang Lin, Yile Qian, and myself.

Dragi, our fearless Altairian rider, has logged over 6,000 miles already this summer with a goal of 10,000 by the end of the year! Dragi rides on the Specialized S-Works Venge, which was designed using Altair’s software and has an optimized frame, crankset, and wheels. He continues to ride and participate in many MS bike events. Follow Dragi on his adventures and check out his most recent post from the MS Mid-Michigan Breakaway. Congratulations to Dragi and Team Altair for completing over 800 miles in two days!

Two more exciting bike rides are coming up next month for the Altair Bike MS Team! Team. Three cyclists will ride in the Great Lakes Fall Breakaway 2015 on September 12 at Island Lake Recreation Area, and 13 members will participate in the Great Lakes Bavarian Breakaway 2015 on September 26 and 27 in Frankenmuth.

Many Altairians have supported MS activities by participating in various fundraisers with their families. We’ve raised a total of over $5,400 so far this year, halfway to our goal of $10,000! Follow Team Altair on Facebook and be a part of our team as we continue to support the efforts to end MS!
