In December, it was announced that Cetim (Centre technique des industries mécaniques), the largest technical center for industrial research in France, had chosen Altair’s computer-aided engineering (CAE) suite HyperWorks® to expand its technical capabilities in development projects. This relationship is significant from the standpoint that Cetim is a preeminent European research institution and as such, imposes very stringent performance requirements on its potential partners. Cetim relies upon cutting-edge technology to provide its customers with world class services at a competitive price, and Altair has the technology and requisite expertise to participate on this elite playing field.
Cetim was set up more than 45 years ago on the joint initiative of the French government and the French Federation of Mechanical Engineering Industries (FIM) with the aim of pooling resources and technical skills based on funding by a designated tax. Today, Cetim is France’s largest Industrial Technical Centre (CTI). With a staff of nearly 700 – for the most part engineers and holders of doctorates – spread over three main sites (Senlis, Nantes, and Saint-Etienne), Cetim is France’s benchmark institute in the field of mechanical engineering. It holds the Carnot label awarded by the French Ministry of Research. As the leading French player in the fields of mechanical engineering innovation and research and development (R&D), Cetim has built up a wide network of partners. Its engineers and technicians operate in more than 30 countries across many industries, including automotive, aerospace, rail, space, and defense.

Cetim uses Altair products for linear static validation of a test bench as well as for the optimization of components made of multilayer composites.
