Lightweight Innovators Can Meet ALLIANCE OEMs in Exclusive Webinar Taking Place Tomorrow

On Wednesday 24 at 12:00 (CET),​ ​ the ALLIANCE Lightweight Open Innovation Challenge (LOIC) will host a 1-hour webinar for potential applicants to meet their future collaborators. Opel, IKA & Bax & Company will present the latest activities in the ALLIANCE project and give participants a taster of what’s to come after the selection phase. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session so all their burning questions can be answered.

The webinar allows participants to discover the state-of-the-art developments in automotive lightweighting taking place in the ALLIANCE project and the novel solutions that OEMs and other automotive leading entities are working on in the lightweight sector.

This session is highly valuable for LOIC applicants as they will have an opportunity to gain insight into the next phase of the challenge, before applications close on February 1st. They must secure their spot promptly as spaces are limited.

The Lightweight Open Innovation challenge, which aims to reduce carbon emissions by finding innovative and affordable solutions to lightweight cars, has been created by ​ Europe’s key car manufacturers; Daimler, Volvo, Opel, Toyota, Volkswagen, CRF – the Research Center of FCA; suppliers (Thyssenkrupp, Novelis, Batz, Benteler) and knowledge partners (Swerea, Inspire, Fraunhofer LBF, RWTH-IKA, KIT-IPEK, University of Florence, Bax & Company, Ricardo).

The winners will get technical support throughout the period of the Lightweight Open Innovation Challenge and have the opportunity to pre-assess the feasibility of their technology in a virtual vehicle model. They will also get the chance to present their results in a dedicated side-event at the Aachen Body Engineering Days 2018, and have the opportunity to bring their technologies to a board of the six ALLIANCE OEM’s (Daimler, Opel, Toyota, Volvo, Volkswagen, CRF- the Research Centre of FCA).
