Bike MS; Great Lakes Mid-Michigan Breakaway 2015: Day 1

Date: July 11th, 2015

Location: Milford, MI

Weather: Very nice, sunny 85-90°F with 5 to 6 mph wind, great for a ride!

Road Condition: Really bad with lots of potholes

Miles: 104.7 miles

The Altair Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Team held its second MS Bike fundraising of the year starting in Milford, MI with a 2-day Mid-Michigan Breakaway! I am proud to be a part of this charity and the ride for a great cause. A total of 8 riders participated in the Altair MS Bike Team for this ride. Just like the MS Ride last month, I was decked out in my Altair gear and riding the Specialized S-Works Venge. Many people asked about Altair, the bike, and wanted to take pictures with it. It certainly received a lot of attention, and I was more than excited to tell them about Altair and the software that were used to optimize the bike, wheels, and crankset. We started bright and early at 7:15 AM and I decided to go for a solo ride all the way to the finish line. The weather was warm and humid that day. I enjoyed the ride and arrived first at the finish line!

Bike MS; Great Lakes Mid-Michigan Breakaway 2015: Day 2

Date: July 12th, 2015

Location: Lansing, MI

Weather: A little rain in the morning, 7-10 mph wind, more rain in the afternoon, then turned sunny and humid

Road Condition: Really bad with lots of potholes

Miles: 104.7 miles

The weather for the second day was predicted to be bad with some rain and wind. Despite the weather, I still participated! I rode the first 45 miles with a small mechanical problem and deflated tires until I arrived at the spin-doctor. He discovered that the rear derailleur was cracked and suggested I try not to put too much pressure on the bike. It was slightly frustrating, but I did not let that stop me. I finished safely and arrived first at the finish line. Not many people participated today because of the weather, but I always have a good time riding with Altair MS Bike riders!

I can’t resist long rides in a great weather like this! I rode 200 miles with my friends on Sunday to celebrate the middle of summer, and simply to enjoy a nice long ride out in the hot weather. I’m very excited to announce that I’ve achieved a total of a little over 5,300 miles this year! I’m halfway through my goal of 10,000 miles for 2015.
