I am taking the Altair bike on a journey! Follow me, and find out how it all began.
This entry documents my first two major rides in April.
All-Time Distance to Date: 6,894 Miles And Counting.
Detroit Randonneur “Northeast Populaire”
Date: March 29th, 2015
Location: Detroit, MI
Weather: Cold. 28°F with 23mph Wind and Gust up to 33mph.
Road Condition: Bad. Bumpy.
Miles: 72.8
This was a ride organized by the Detroit Randonneur group with 29 cyclists participated in the journey, including solidThinking Senior Software Development Specialist Christ Butler. The worst part of the ride started from the 43rd mile where I rode solo against the brutal wind and gust all the way to the end. There were a couple of times that I had to stop because of the strong wind. We rode by Lake St. Clair, St. Clair Shore, Grosse Point Woods, Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Park, and finished on East Jefferson. I was pleased to come in first, 17 minutes ahead of a group!
Easter Century Ride
Date: April 4th, 2015
Location: Saint Clair Shores, MI
Weather: Cold. 28°F with 13 to 15mph wind.
Road Condition: Bad.
Miles: 106.9
This was the first Century Ride of the year with a small group of Clinton River Riders. It was a slower group, which I had to adapt to their speed, but I did many solo spins to increase my average miles per hour. My colleague, Chris Butler, also joined this ride; however, his bike tire exploded! We had to wait for the bike shop to open in order to replace the tire. All in all, it was an extremely cold day to ride, but nonetheless a worthy experience – looking forward to warmer weather!
