Engine performance and ride and handling are differentiators for luxury sport automotive products in particular. Engineering for durability and to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness requires the use of predictive tools early in the design process. Historically, this type of analysis was limited in terms of its impact on the ultimate manufactured design. Today, new simulation technologies for lightweighting and optimization are transforming powertrain design.
Predictive, upstream, and efficient simulation have led to new forms of design exploration. Multi-disciplinary analysis and optimization, concept and system modeling, and the efficient integration of simulation into the design process have helped drive performance gains across the industry.
A number of international thought leaders will be joining Altair to discuss computer-aided engineering (CAE) methods and simulation approaches for powertrain development on Nov. 13, 2014 at BMW Welt in Munich. The annual Altair Technology Conference (ATC) series includes a number of one-day events that focus on a particular topic. The ATCx Powertrain will focus upon the impact of simulation on design and development processes in the automotive industry, and propose innovative solutions for simulation-driven design.
