CEO Perspective: The Strength of Altair and Datawatch

As you may have heard, Altair Engineering Inc., has agreed to acquire Datawatch.  Allow me to take a moment to share with you why I’m so excited about this deal for our customers, our partners and our employees.  This transformative combination holds the potential to greatly expand the role of data analytics and data science in simulation-driven innovation.
Altair is part of a handful of companies leading the world of engineering design and decision making into a new age by enabling simulation, machine learning and optimization throughout a product’s lifecycle.  Its portfolio of simulation technology is powering innovation, reducing development times, and lowering costs for manufacturers. And with every step in the IoT design process, there is an enormous amount of data waiting to be leveraged. That’s where the breadth and depth of Datawatch’s team of professionals, research and development and robust data intelligence products come in.
As James Scapa, CEO of Altair said recently, “Altair significantly advances Altair’s vision of simulation driven design by accelerating the convergence of data and simulation.”
Working together, we’ll be able to deepen and strengthen our combined capabilities in critical areas that will make customers more competitive, including data science, machine learning, real-time data visualization and data preparation, all of which will play a central role in simulation-driven innovation. These added capabilities will result in a powerful offering for customers looking to capitalize on product design and decision-making in a real-time world.
As high-performance computing, simulation and data science converge, combining Datawatch’s real-time data streaming and visualization technology with Altair’s leading product simulation portfolio will bring new opportunities for customers looking to improve their competitive positioning in IoT environments.
We intend to retain the valuable Altair product brands and accelerate sales of Datawatch's Monarch, Panopticon,  Knowledge Hub, and Knowledge Studio products. We look forward to jointly elevating the market’s awareness of the combined company and our data intelligence solutions, and we expect to benefit greatly from the scale and investment capacity that Altair provides.
We’re excited about the opportunities ahead of us, especially for our customers who will ultimately reap the benefits of our combined offerings. I invite you to share your questions and comments here, and I urge you to watch this space in the coming weeks as we have a number of exciting developments in the works designed to help customers extract more intelligence from their data. Intelligence that will arm them with the insights their organizations need to evolve, transform, disrupt, invent and compete.
More to come soon!
