TST Sistemas, one of Carriot’s partners, is a company that develops wireless products and solutions for applications in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment. They recently developed a 4 week pilot of a rubbish bin filling sensor system in Santander. They integrated the data read by their sensors with the Carriots platform.
TST Sistemas installed wireless sensors in the plastic and paper recycling bins located near PCTCAN (the Scientific and Technology Park in Cantabria). These sensors retrieve the data of the level of fullness and send it the Carriots cloud where it is stored.
Thanks to the Carriots REST API, the gathered data can be easily displayed on a web page. From there, the user can evaluate the lever of the bins, the battery and GPRS coverage by pressing on the desired bin. The page isn’t limited to simply showing the current status, data can also be grouped in different ways to see graphs and data collection history. This information can be used to plan the best routes to collect the rubbish.
As you can see, there would be many advantages to knowing the exact state of the bin before taking action to empty it. It enables us to measure the quality of the company that picks up the rubbish and at the same time allows us to make the pick-up process more efficient and effective. It can increase or decrease the frequency of pick-up depending on the fullness data levels. Not only does this method save money, but it also saves carbon dioxide gas emissions.
This is just one more example of the possibilities that Carriots gives to companies. We make IoT projects a reality. Can we help you make yours a reality too?
