Automotive Techdays 2014 in Rhône-Alpes

In June, Altair France participated in the Automotive Techdays in Lyon, France. This regional event focuses on electrification, supply chain excellence, and lightweighting in the automotive industry. Sponsoring orgaizations LUTB Transport & Mobility Systems and the Platform for the Automotive Industry together form a competitive cluster, part of a French government initiative focused on the key environmental, societal, and economic issues associated with the transport of passengers and goods in urban areas. A map of these clusters may be viewed here. This particular cluster is helping to define, coordinate, and promote the necessary improvement actions to strengthen the competitiveness of the French automotive industry.

The team collaborated to develop a vision for a future 2020-2025 truck cab platform with improved lightweight material and structural solutions. Altair partnered with the Volvo Group, automotive suppliers (Plastic Omnium, Mecacorp), material suppliers (Solvay, Addiplast, Saertex), and research leaders (Insa Lyon, Burgundy University, Segula) for this project with a goal of reducing weight 40% while maintaining the same high level performance with respect to safety, comfort, and durability.

Congratulations to the entire extended team for an outstanding project and exhibition!
