Altair’s 2015 Year In Review

2015 certainly has been a spectacular year for Altair! We celebrated our 30th anniversary, hosted amazing conferences, announced exciting new plans, and participated in various community outreaches. Take a look at our 2015 highlights:

Artemis Racing selected Altair as Technical Supplier

Altair OptiStruct revolutionizesd Lattice Structures for 3D Printing


The new OptiStruct solver capabilities were announced in February, which expanded topology optimization support for the use of additive manufacturing, or 3D printing. Find out more about how the lattice structures for 3D printing and be designed and optimized.

VisSim 9.0 was released to accelerate Model-Based Design of Embedded Systems


The new version increases engineering productivity and expands its support of the Texas Instruments (TI) C2000 product family. Speed improvements have been made to large plots and overall simulation, as well as to large diagrams with many conditional subsystems. VisSim v9 also saved Hawaii from… Frog invasion?!

Altair Acquired Multiscale Design Systems for Microstructural Optimization


Multiscale Design Systems has been a member of the Altair Partner Alliance, focusing on micromechanics, microstructural optimization, and life prediction of complex materials. The acquisition brings important new composites expertise to the Altair HyperWorks suite, including multiscale analysis, stochastic design, fatigue analysis, and multiphysics simulation.

Altair began to Follow Dragi for his 10,000-mile Goal


Altair ProductDesign Principal Designer of Aesthetics and CAD Methods and an avid cyclist, Dragi Gasevski, laid his eyes on the Specialized S-Works Venge on display at Altair Troy Headquarters and decided to take it on a 10,000-mile journey this year. He successfully completed his goal and shares his plan for next year!

Airbus Defence and Space joined the Altair Partner Alliance


Airbus Defence and Space is now partnering with Altair to integrate its STRENGTH2000® solution with the HyperWorks platform, offering users with airframe structural analysis and verification capabilities.

3-Day 2015 Americas ATC kicked-off with notable vision and client presentations


The 2015 Americas ATC was held in Dearborn, Michigan at the Ford Motor Company Conference & Event Center! The conference united engineering professionals and industry leaders to share new ideas, solutions, and experience. Altair also celebrated its 30th anniversary with the DeLorean from Back to the Future!

Altair followed CTO James Dagg in the Paddle Relay Around Lower Michigan for local charities


Altair CTO (and Captain) James Dagg has been an active organizer of the paddle relay, raising awareness and donations for local charities! The 1,100-mile relay-style water tour of Michigan’s coastlines lasted all summer long.

Ford wins the 2015 Altair Enlighten Award


The award is dedicated to vehicle lightweighting, in collaboration with the Center for Automotive Research. Ford saved up to 700 pounds through increased use of high-strength steel throughout the frame and many other lightweight components. GM and Faurecia werenamed runners-up. 2016 Enlighten Award is NOW accepting applications!

Altair acquired Click2Cast for Casting Simulation


Altair now holds an office in Barcelona, Spain where Click2Cast is based. The acquisition adds simple and quick casting simulation technology to the Altair suite of products.

2015 European Altair Technology Conference was remarkable


Over 650 simulation and engineering experts gathered at the “Cité de la Musique” in Paris, France to network, learn, and share experiences on trends and news related to simulation and product development. Good news, presentations are now available to download!

SimLab 14.0 now available for all HyperWorks users

Altair to open source PBS Professional® HPC technology


Big news! PBS Pro will become available under two different licensing options for commercial installations and as an Open Source Initiative compliant version. The decision includes working closely with Intel and the Linux Foundation’s OpenHPC Collaborative Project to integrate the open source version of PBS Pro. Visit PBS Pro Open Source for more detail on news and availability.

Altair received 2015 HPCwire Editors’ Choice Award in Oil and Gas

Altair won Best Application of HPC in Oil and Gas in the annual HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Awards for its work with Intel and Cray. The award was presented at the 2015 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis (SC15), in Texas. Read more in our SC15 recap.

2015 FEKO Student Competition Winner announced


PhD student form the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ting-Yen Shih, won the 11th annual FEKO Student Competition with the winning entry on a successfully developed method using the characteristic mode configuration in FEKO to systematically and efficiently approached the bandwidth limitation of a platform mode. Congrats!

The Best and Brightest In Wellness is an innovative initiative that recognizes and celebrates quality and excellence in health awareness, recognizing companies, schools, and organizations that promote a great culture of wellness.
