Altair Partner Alliance adds Microsoft Kinect capable LinceoVR rendering software

The Altair Partner Alliance (APA) today announced that Seac02, developer of the real time rendering and augmented reality software LinceoVR, has joined the program. As the APA’s first rendering tool, LinceoVR continues to increase and expand the depth of the program’s simulation offering.

Altair judges steel wheel optimization at LTU

Last year Altair ProductDesign worked with the Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI) to design a steel wheel that was equivalent in mass and performance to a baseline production cast aluminum wheel, but with a 30% cost reduction. So last week I was excited to be invited to Lawrence Technological University (LTU) to view and judge the entrants in this year’s Steel Wheel Design competition sponsored by the SMDI Wheels Task Force and Michelin. Each student presented renderings of a steel wheel design to the judging panel and described how their wheel demonstrated material celebration, communicated environmental benefits and performance, innovation and a concept that complements the vehicle’s aesthetics.
