Detroit Free Press: James Scapa, Altair’s quiet risk taker

James Scapa, who founded Altair Engineering 29 years ago, said he is still just as energized about creating new software and new industrial designs today as he was when he founded the firm in the 1980s. “We are risk-takers,” Scapa said of Altair Engineering. “I like to try new things. We do a lot of projects that I think a lot of other companies that are maybe very driven by the accountants would not do.”

Altair’s TOGGLED subsidiary secured 21 new LED lighting patents in 2013

TOGGLED, developer and producer of next-generation solid-state lighting technology, reported today that in 2013 it was awarded 16 new LED lighting patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office and 5 new LED lighting patents by international patent offices. With a total of 47 patents issued and more than 40 patents pending, the company continues to invest heavily in research and development, design, engineering, and manufacturing automation.

NovusNexus brings abstract CFD simulation and design modeling to the Partner Alliance

The Altair Partner Alliance (APA) today announced the availability of AcuNexus through the program. AcuNexus, developed by NovusNexus, Inc., is computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software designed to support simulation-based design (SBD) and is based on the company’s unique abstract modeling technology.
