African Utility Week (AUW) 2018 brought together technologists, vendors, strategic thinkers and many other parties that are all interested in how utilities can, do and will influence our lives in future. Altair joined the event to talk about our Internet of Things (IoT) platform Carriots and how Carriots IoT can contribute to a future where we live in connected, smart environments.
The breadth of interest in IoT applications at AUW was very wide and discussion at the Altair booth included diverse topics such as electricity management, solid waste services optimization, smart traffic management, real-time water metering, smart phone parking assignment, IoT fueled machine learning for preventative maintenance of machinery and even optimization of business models for beer brewers!
This annual event hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre attracted just over 300 exhibitors and close on 6500 visitors over the three days.
It is clear that almost any industry can benefit from the implementation of a well thought out IoT strategy and that strategic thinkers in a growing array of industries are starting to guide their businesses along this path. Altair is excited about being a part of this journey with our customers and to grow our reputation as a valued technology partner in engineering and business optimization.
