3D Induction Motor Modeling

The induction motor (IM) is the most common type of motor in the world. In fact nearly half of all the motors in the world are IM. Nevertheless, the design of the IM is constantly evolving.
With the arrival of low-cost magnets at the beginning of the millennium, the IM was less studied, but with the rising price of magnets since 2011 it is still an interesting motor to design. This is one of the reasons why regulators have decided to put constraints on its design in order to improve the efficiency of three-phase IMs when the power is greater than a specific value.

Regular improvement in tools gives better accuracy in IM modeling. From 2D to 3D, without forgetting the skew capability, different analyses are available to design efficient IMs…
