2015 Americas ATC Begins with Trainings and Workshops

Today, the 2015 Americas ATC had all day trainings and workshops for all attendees with key focuses on powertrain, NVH, lightweighting, HPC, electromagnetics, and more. Not only that, a long list of sponsors and Altair Partners were also exhibiting at the conference including nCode, AlphaSTAR, Brüel & Kjær, CAEfatigue, Click2Cast, Materialise, Modelx3D, Desktop Engineering and more. Check out the detail of these workshops!

Auto/Occupant Safety Workshop with Ravi Kodwani, Altair Application Engineering Manager

Here are some featured highlights of the day:

Powertrain Workshop

This well attended workshop covered HyperWorks as a comprehensive solution to model, simulate and optimize powertrain systems. Practical examples evaluating NVH, coolant and air flow (CFD), lubrication and thermal-mechanical durability load cases were shared and discussed in this open forum format. Novel new optimization techniques for radiated noise, engine mount and overall crankcase light-weighting were also showcased.

Powertrain Workshop with Dave Mason, Altair Vice President – Global Automotive

Lightweight Design (Composites) Workshop

This workshop described how HyperWorks and Altair Partner Alliance suite of tools are used to design lightweight composite parts. The first half of the session focused on the process for designing lightweight composite parts including draping, ply shape concept design, and laminate detailed design with HyperWorks. The second half covered the injection-molding process utilizing HyperWorks and Altair Partner Alliance solutions.

FEKO Training

This comprehensive all-day training track was designed to introduce and quickly ramp Altair customers with electromagnetics simulation using FEKO. Detailed instructions on using FEKO to model and solve complex electromagnetics problems were shared to kick-off the session. Following the introduction to the basic principles, hands-on examples were provided to attendees demonstrating the capabilities of FEKO for various applications.

Mechatronics Lab

Altair has developed a complete Mechatronics Curriculum that was presented during this all-day training track to demonstrate how VisSim supports Model Based Development of Embedded Systems without hand-coding a single line. Structured as a learning lab, this session discussed how VisSim Embedded and Texas Instruments C2000 LaunchPads can be employed for efficient embedded development.

Altair HPC & Enterprise Software Workshops

This workshop included 3 components: introduction to the new features in Altair’s HPC workload management software, PBS Professional® 13.0, collaboration with PBS Portal Products, and how to right-size software investments using Software Asset Optimization.  Specifically, this session showed how Altair’s enterprise portals simplify access to HPC resources to streamline CAE workflows.

Altair NVH Solutions

This workshop introduced Altair’s full frequency and multi-physics solutions for solving the most pressing problems in the NVH field. It provided an overview of Altair’s solutions designed to facilitate the best in class NVH design process at automotive OEMs, coupled with real-time demonstrations of key product features. The focus of the workshop was on effective NVH problem resolution.
